Our Psychologists

Amy and Tara have specialist clinical postgraduate training, are fully registered with the Australian Psychology Board (APHRA ) and are full members of the Australian Psychological Society (APS). They have extensive experience across both the public and private sectors, and continually strive to keep abreast of the latest research and maintain a strong focus on ongoing professional education to further enhance their skills and effectiveness.

Amy Joyce

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday

Amy is a clinical psychologist and has over 22 years experience working with adults and adolescents to assist with mental health and wellbeing across a broad range of settings including community, organisational, vocational rehabilitation, public mental health services, and private practice. 

Amy uses an integrative approach and tailors treatment to each individual, the presenting issues and readiness/capability for change. She has trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Schema Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Trauma Focused CBT (TF-CBT), attachment focused therapy and psychodynamic approach. Amy uses Eye Movement, Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) in treating trauma related  presentations including complex trauma and PTSD.

Amy is committed to working with her clients to identify the root of presenting issues, and understand the influence of the past on present behaviour. She is recognised for her astuteness and providing a sensitive andin-depth therapy. Amy's therapeutic  approach is founded on empathy, respect and validation.

Amy has a range of clinical interests and expertise across mood, anxiety, personality disorders, interpersonal and relational issues. She has a particular interest and expertise in working with people who have experienced interpersonal and complex trauma. She works from attachment and brain based models, and aims to empower individuals to overcome the impact of early challenging experiences and work toward healing and developing more adaptive and functional current relationships. She also has a particular interest in complex presentations.

Tara Gannon

Tuesday, Thursday and Friday

Tara is a psychologist with over twelve years experience working with young people, adults and families to assist with a range of mental health and interpersonal difficulties. Tara has worked in a broad range of settings including inpatient and community public mental health services, community programs and private practice. 

Tara is committed to achieving the best possible outcomes with her clients. She works collaboratively with each client to identify their individual needs, goals, strengths and priorities and the best matching therapeutic approach is a key aspect of her work. Tara aims to assist all clients better understand their own minds, the mental states of others and work towards resolving any unhelpful patterns of behaviour. Tara hopes her clients leave sessions with a feeling of being understood, valued and respected and feel able to be themselves in the therapeutic space. 

Tara is trained in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Schema Focused Therapy and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy Enhanced for eating disorders (CBT-E). Tara has expertise the treatment of complex trauma and PTSD and is trained in Trauma Focused CBT and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). 

Tara has a range of clinical interests including working with clients who have difficulties with body image and disordered eating, personality disorders and perinatal mood and anxiety concerns. Tara has expertise in working with individuals who have difficulties regulating strong emotions and who may use self destructive coping strategies such as substance abuse and self harm.
